Critical Care Paramedic
Tier 3 Team Responder
Fred Thompson is a Critical Care Paramedic with Wiltshire Air Ambulance since 2015, whilst celebrating 20 years as a Paramedic. He has also served as a class 1 Combat Medical Technician (CMT1) with the Royal Army Medical Corps (RAMC) and a Firefighter with South Wales Fire and Rescue Service (SWFRS) and currently acts as mentor for trainee Critical Care Practitioners (CCPs). His specific interests include cardiac emergencies within his Pre-hospital care.
He has become involved with the British Association of Immediate Care (BASICs) and MEDSERVE Wales as a Team Responder since 2019, with the hope to become a Solo responder in the future. Though as all his experience would allude to, his take home message with respect to Pre-Hospital Emergency Medicine is “it’s a team arena and everyone has their part to play in patient care.” Fred believes in the importance of MEDSERVE, allowing him to provide care above what standard emergency responses can deliver, and making a difference to the communities in which we serve as well as the communities in which we live.
