MEDSERVE start a "Vintage" year - Thursday, February 07, 2008
MEDSERVE Wales has been selected as the 2007 annual charity for the " East Wales and Borders Vintage Enthusiasts". And in January 2008, after a year of fundraising, Dr Kyle Jacques, one of the MEDSERVE Wales doctors, attended one of the groups meetings and was presented with a huge cheque (literally) for £3000. Dr Jacques had previously been to speak to the members of the society to explain the volunteer work that he and his colleagues perform, on top of their busy NHS commitments. The donation will go towards training and equipment for new and existing doctors in the Abergavenny area.

We have also received a donation of £500 from Mrs Brown of Newport this month!

We are very grateful for your generous donations that enable us to keep helping others!

Have you or your family ever been in a serious accident on the road, at home or work?

aBigCrash.jpgMEDSERVE WALES provides volunteer doctors who react at any time of day or night to help the public of South Wales when they need it most.

Road traffic accidents are unfortunately a regular feature of life in Wales. It’s not until one is involved in such an incident that one that one experiences and benefits from the emergency services that attend the scene.

In very serious road accidents where people have been very badly injured, volunteer doctors from MEDSERVE Wales will attend and treat the casualties. Who are these dedicated doctors who, in their spare time, or breaking away from their day job, will get to the scene in their own cars to do what they can to help the injured?

The NHS and Welsh Assembly Government does not provide this – it is purely voluntary.

“I truly thought that, in the equation of medical cover, a doctor called to the scene was an automatic element. It is not so.”

Roy Noble OBE, President, MEDSERVE WALES
